Five senior players are currently out on loan away from Leeds United at the moment but it is fair to say only two of those are actually enjoying their temporary spells away from Elland Road.
Jack Harrison has failed to score for Everton since February having spent the 2023-24 campaign with Sean Dyche’s side. Harrison has fallen out of the starting XI and is struggling to show why he deserves a deal.
Sonny Perkins is back at boyhood club Leyton Orient in League One, but has been afforded just 13 starts in 21 games – scoring only three goals. Darko Gyabi is in the midst of a Championship relegation battle.
Plymouth are struggling under Wayne Rooney and Gyabi, alongside Adam Forshaw, is failing to impress. But two are doing well, with Rasmus Kristensen excellent on the right of Eintracht Frankfurt’s defence.
Sam Greenwood helps Preston end winless run of 10 matches
Leeds take on Greenwood’s Preston on the weekend, with Greenwood likely to be unavailable to face his parent club. They were in action on Wednesday night, travelling to Wales to take on inconsistent Cardiff.
Preston had gone 10 games without a win under Paul Heckingbottom, with the Lilywhites sitting in 14th place having drawn 10 of their 20 league games. But on Wednesday, they picked up a solid 2-0 away win.
Greenwood has had a hand in eight goals in 21 games for Preston and he played 90 minutes last night, earning a rating of 7/10 from the Lancashire Evening Post who reported that his work rate was “excellent”.
“His work rate was excellent again. Almost scored a screamer before half time, from distance. Things didn’t always come off but he played his part,” the LEP reported on Greenwood’s Wednesday display.
Where does Sam Greenwood’s long-term future lie?
Right now, Greenwood has created more big chances than any other player in the Championship. The versatile midfielder has arguably been Preston’s best player this season and clubs will be watching on.

Jermaine Beckford does not feel he has a future at Leeds and having spent the last two seasons out on loan, going to Middlesbrough last term, the chances of a Leeds return seems incredibly unlikely.
So, as he shines for Preston, Greenwood will be putting himself in the shop window. Especially as the £3m Leeds signing will enter the final 12 months of his Elland Road contract at the end of the current season.
