Wednesday night saw Everton and Liverpool do battle in the last-ever Merseyside derby to be played at Goodison Park, and Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison was involved.
Everton are set to move stadiums at the end of the season having recently been the subject of a £400m takeover. Last night, they welcomed Liverpool to Goodison Park for the last time ahead of the move.
An excellent game saw Beto score first for Everton, before Alexis Mac Allister and Mo Salah put Liverpool 2-1 up only for James Tarkowski to score a 98th-minute equaliser, sending Everton fans into raptures.
The drama was not done there. A lengthy VAR check finally ruled Tarkowski’s goal to stand, before Curtis Jones, Arne Slot and Abdoulaye Doucoure were all sent off after full-time after a fracas between players.
Everton crowd voice their frustration with Jack Harrison form
Jack Harrison is enduring a dismal season in what is his second loan at Goodison Park. He rejoined The Toffees on loan with his relegation clause reactivated after Leeds failed to gain promotion last season.
Having had a hand in seven goals last season, Sean Dyche opted to bring him back. Fast forward until now and Harrison has failed to lay on a single goal involvement, going a whole year without scoring.
On Wednesday, Harrison replaced Iliman Ndiaye on 25 minutes but shortly after, Sky Sports’ Adam Bate shared how £70m-rated Jarrad Branthwaite screamed at Harrison and the crowd were equally displeased.
“Branthwaite screaming at Harrison after he was slow to the tackle there. The sub hasn’t really gotten up to speed and the home crowd have taken note,” Bate said, towards the end of the first half last night.

Everton fans were also critical of Harrison on social media following the 2-2 draw, with many seemingly fed up of Harrison. A long way from the Harrison once in England’s preliminary 2022 World Cup squad.
Everton don’t have a permanent clause in their loan for Harrison, and it means a decision will need to be made at the end of the season. But with Everton’s recent takeover, it is unclear what that decision will be.
Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that Everton are unlikely to sign Harrison because they will have bigger fish to fry, now they are about to move into a new stadium and have new £400m owners.
