What The 49ers’ relationship with Daniel Farke is actually like behind the scenes at Leeds United

Leeds United have only managed to make four summer signings so far with The Whites trying to save as much money as possible, as The 49ers look to comply with Profit & Sustainability Rules.

Leeds have sold seven players, left five go out on loan with two forced in the form of Jack Harrison and Rasmus Kristensen due to Victor Orta clauses, and plenty more departing on free transfers at Elland Road.

The wage bill has been significantly reduced while Leeds have raked in £80m in player sales. A whopping £65m of which was due to Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville’s moves to Tottenham and West Ham.

Leeds fans are growing concerned about the club’s lack of replacements with The Whites needing a full-back, a midfielder and possibly two new wingers but certainly a replacement for Dutch ace Summerville.

Daniel Farke shares relationship with Leeds owners The 49ers

Leeds and The 49ers have worked in tandem thus far, and had to last summer when Farke inherited a mess. Players desperate to go, wading through the red tape of a takeover and being a new manager.

But he made sense of it eventually and after a poor start, Leeds accrued 90 points. This season, it is likely that 90 points is enough to secure automatic promotion with last season;s league table an anomaly.

Farke told the club’s YouTube in Thursday’s press conference: “I’m very lucky we have ambitious owners, they’re so supportive. They think big about the club’s and the’s future, we know where we want to end up.

“We stand clearly for values and we still have to pay for some sins, to be in line with Financial rules. I don’t have the feeling that the board and the owners are there to make my life easy, to please me, to suit me.”

That relationship will be tested over the next few weeks

Farke has made it clear in a public domain that he wants a full-back, given there are only three senior full-backs to cover two separate positions. He also wants a midfielder to replace Glen Kamara this summer.

Kamara has moved to France with Ligue 1 since Rennes and it is claimed that The Whites want a player able to score and create from deep. Joe Rothwell is signed from Bournemouth but Farke wants another.

The of course, replacing Summerville. A loan will not do here, Leeds need to spend the money received from Summerville’s exit to make a big signing. Leeds fans want the club to re-sign Jack Clarke.
