Leeds United had to settle for a point in their Saturday game against West Brom. Not the worst point in the world, but certainly not the result Daniel Fare wanted.
Leeds United took some really strong form into their game against West Brom at Elland Road on Saturday, and many within the ranks might have expected another win; what would’ve been a six-straight win in the league.
In their previous game, Leeds had beaten Sheffield United 3-1 to take another huge step towards promotion this season, beating Sunderland in the game before that.
The visit of West Brom presented another difficult game against top six opposition for Leeds. After nine minutes, Junior Firpo opened the scoring and it looked like Leeds would go on to win the game with relative ease.
But Tony Mowbray’s side had other plans. They held their own and equalised before the break through Darnell Furlong who looped a header over Illan Meslier in the Leeds goal.
The second half proved cagey at times as both teams never really looked like winning. In the end, a draw was probably a fair result.

Leeds United fans heard booing Adam Armstrong vs West Brom
West Brom started the game with Southampton striker Adam Armstrong up front. The 28-year-old joined West Brom on loan from the Saints on deadline day and he’s since scored one goal in five Championship outings for the Baggies.
Rather notoriously, Armstrong scored for Southampton in the Championship play-off final last season; the goal that condemned Leeds to another season in the Championship. Needless to say, there were more than a few home fans who remember.
When Armstrong came off in the second half, Leeds United fans were heard booing the striker, who was actually linked with Leeds United on deadline day earlier in the month.
Did Leeds United come close to signing Adam Armstrong?
Armstrong’s links to Elland Road came about during a very hectic deadline day in which Leeds United seemed to be focussing their attentions on signing Armstrong’s Southampton teammate, Cameron Archer.
In the end, though, there were never any reports stating that Armstrong was very close to moving to Leeds. It looked like a passing interest, if that, but he had interest from elsewhere in the Championship, including from Sunderland.
Speaking before Saturday’s game, Farke gave his verdict on Armstrong. The Leeds boss didn’t hide his admiration for Armstrong’s scoring ability, saying: “He is a proven goal scorer at this level. He’s scored so many crucial goals. One of the major tasks for the weekend [is to keep Armstrong quiet].”
Armstrong was certainly kept quiet in the end, but so too were Leeds. Up next for the Whites is a trip to Portsmouth on Sunday.
