Leeds United will meet Frank Lampard for the first time since his tenure at Everton, as the Chelsea legend has previously left former Whites boss Jesse Marsch very angry.

The Whites will be looking to build upon their brilliant form in the Championship after Leeds battered Cardiff City 7-0.

Daniel Farke’s side will be hoping to replicate their fortunes against Coventry City on Wednesday as Lampard and Leeds meet again.

There is a built-up history between both the club and the manager after many Leeds fans will recall Marcelo Bielsa’s antics in 2019, as Lampard was left fuming about Spygate.

The two will face off once more, as Lampard’s previous actions against Jesse Marsch could be put on display.

Leeds faced Everton at the beginning of the 2022/23 season in what was a big encounter for both Marsch and Lampard.

As the game ended 1-1 in a heated affair, Marsch made his feelings clear about Lampard and Everton.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Marsch criticised Lampard’s side for time-wasting at almost every opportunity and making it a less exciting watch for viewers.

“Yeah that was terrible,” Marsch said.

“It is classic. For me, you can see when the players of Everton are kicking the ball away in the first minute of the game. It is clear they want to take the energy out of Elland Road.

“This is still an entertainment business and I wish the referee had handled that bit a little better. After it was 1-1 it became entertaining, but it was too late. The referee had the chance to affect the game and did not take advantage of that.”

This could be something Leeds fans will have in store for Wednesday night’s clash.

Leeds will endure tough test against Lampard’s Coventry City side

Despite Leeds’ recent form, the Coventry fixture won’t be a walk in the park, as Lampard has injected new life into the Sky Blues.

Lampard has shown his anger with Leeds in the past as every time a meeting takes place fireworks are expected.

With both sides finding themselves in good nick at the moment, the Coventry boss could once again give Leeds a blow in their pursuit of promotion, after his famous win at Elland Road with Derby County in 2019.

After Lampard took great fulfillment in beating Leeds back in the day, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he used his dark arts against Farke as he did with Marsch in 2022.
