What Everton fans think of Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison now after breaking goal drought

A whopping 13 months, 39 games and even a managerial change have separated Jack Harrison’s last two goals as the on-loan Everton man finally broke his drought and scored on Saturday.

The Leeds United man last scored for Everton in February 2024, in a 2-2 draw with Tottenham at home. On Saturday, Harrison was handed a start by David Moyes and duly obliged, with a huge slice of luck.

Moyes challenged Harrison before the game to improve his end product and he did just that against Wolves, even if his effort at goal was deflected and managed to spin into Jose Sa’s bottom corner.

It has been a challenging season for Harrison, who has had to deal with new signings in his position in the form of Iliman Ndiaye and Jasper Lindstrom. But he now has his first goal and will be aiming for more.

What Everton fans now think of Harrison after breaking drought

Everton fans had grown fed up of Harrison earlier in the season. Chances against the likes of Chelsea, Man City and plenty of others came and went – ultimately, playing a part in the sacking of Sean Dyche.

Harrison’s time at Everton seems to be coming to an end with talks over a return to The MLS ongoing. There is even talk Leeds may consider a return – but Everton fans have not changed their stance on him.

Despite his goal, fans are still desperate to see the back of the £11m Leeds signing when his loan spell comes to an end in the summer. While he did score, fans were not impressed with his overall display.

Harrison is not the only Everton player to earn criticism but with Dwight McNeil and Ndiaye injured, it looks as if Everton will have to put up with him. One fan “cannot wait” until Harrison is no longer picked.

Another was frustrated with Harrison’s crossing as another effort to find a striker instead, found Jose Sa’s gloves: “And as night follows day a Jack Harrison cross finds its way to the opposition goalkeeper.”

One fan even questioned Harrison’s desire to win the ball, saying he needs to be “more brave” having ducked out of a couple of duels. Another simply said, “nobody is improving Jack Harrison”.

When does Jack Harrison’s contract at Leeds United expire?

Leeds fans with a good memory will recall Harrison being offered, perhaps surprisingly, a new contract just a few months before The Whites were relegated. It came after a January move to Leicester collapsed.

While it saw Harrison extend his contract at Leeds until June 2028, it meant that he had Victor Orta’s loan clause included. In the event of relegation, he could go on loan without Leeds being able to have a say.

Off he jumped to Everton, and then again in the summer. Ironically, Harrison may now be hoping Leeds are willing to offer a return and another season in the Premier League because Everton are unlikely to.
