Connor Roberts really announced his arrival as a Leeds United player against Leicester City last night.
Roberts was brought off the bench for the fourth match in succession since arriving from Burnley but made a significant impact in Leeds’ incredible comeback victory at Elland Road.
Just as Leeds had looked as though they had run out of ideas, Roberts was first to pounce on a loose ball in the Leicester area, before steering home an equalising goal.
His goal was the catalyst to Leeds earning an incredible result over the Championship’s pace-setters, as Leicester crumbled under the atmosphere after conceding that goal, under Enzo Maresca’s own admission.
Leeds could’ve been forgiven for perhaps settling for a point given how the game went, but according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Joe Donnohue, Roberts had other ideas.
Roberts character shown after first Leeds goal
Donnohue claims that Roberts told his teammates ‘let’s go again’ immediately after finding the back of the net, as he wanted to go for the jugular and get the three points.
Daniel Farke often said throughout the January window when Leeds were looking for a right-back to come in, that it was really important to find the right character for the squad.

It certainly looks as though they have found that in Roberts, but also a brilliant right-back to have at this level. It isn’t a surprise to see him chipping in with goals considering his record for Burnley last season.
During his first interview as a Leeds player, Roberts claimed that he is the type of player who would thrive under playing for the Whites, and he did that tonight.
His goal was a significant moment on the night, but it also could prove to be so crucial come the end of the season in the race for automatic promotion.
