By the time Daniel Farke arrived at Leeds United in the summer of 2023, Andrea Radrizzani was long gone. The Italian had sold up at Elland Road, and was busy buying Sampdoria.
Farke has since remained in the Leeds hotseat for over two years, taking Leeds back into the Premier League at the second time of asking and enjoying a solid start to life back in England’s top division.
There seems to be a stability at Leeds that Radrizzani first enjoyed, having bought the club from Massimo Cellino back in 2017. But that stability and normality went missing in Radrizzani’s final season as owner.
Radrizzani says he will be in attendance at Elland Road on October 24, Leeds’ next home game in the Premier League. A Friday night clash under the lights, as he watches Farke’s Leeds battle for survival.

Andrea Radrizzani impressed by Daniel Farke and The 49ers
Radrizzani gave a long-winded interview to Aadam Patel at The Mail over the weekend, claiming that Leeds still remain in his and his family’s heart as Farke looks to re-establish Leeds in the Premier League.
Farke has often called out Radrizzani’s ownership and leadership publicly, referring to the “sins of the past” and admitting that he did not know the extent of the mess when taking on the Leeds job.
Despite that, Radrizzani was full of praise for Farke and The 49ers’ faith and patience in the German gaffer. He praised the current side under Farke, but believes Leeds need to score some more goals.
“He’s [Farke] proving he was the right choice. I’m happy with what they’ve achieved. They don’t concede much; it’s well organised, with solid players in the middle. They need a few more goals, but I’m positive.”

The major improvement under Daniel Farke since Radrizzani exit
There are many things that Leeds have had to change following Radrizzani’s exit, but the main area that Leeds have got right under Farke is recruitment. Signings made under Farke have been largely excellent.
During Radrizzani’s reign and certainly in the Premier League, a lot of money was blown on bad deals, often overpaying for players. Diego Llorente for £18m, Luis Sinisterra was north of £20m, and more.
Leeds have been tighter on expenditure and worked hard to strike bargains. Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, Jayden Bogle and Ao Tanaka are all easily worth north of £20m – but were bought for £10m or less.
Of course, Leeds have had to be a lot tighter on expenditure with PSR coming into play. But, a lot of credit should be given to Farke and the board for getting the recruitment right since he arrived.
