Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks has been previewing his side’s trip to Leeds United tonight.
The Championship’s top two are set to go head-to-head under the Elland Road lights in what is arguably the biggest game of the season across the entire division so far.
Leicester currently sit nine points ahead of Leeds heading into the game, but victory for the Whites could see them dragged back into the race for the top two, having been so far clear all season.
Leeds ran out 1-0 winners in the return fixture back at the King Power in November, and were very much the better side on the night, restricting Leicester to just one shot on target, which came in stoppage time.
Speaking to lcfc.com, Winks says Leicester are aware of the threats that Leeds pose and is expecting a really good game in West Yorkshire this evening.
Winks wary of Leeds threat
He said: “We know they’re a good side and regardless of their run, we know the threats that they have and how they can hurt us. We have to be aware of that.
“We also know we can hurt them and need to focus on what we can do, but be mindful of their qualities and their strengths. We need to prepare well, but it should be a good game.”
It is pretty clear that Leicester are fully aware of Leeds’ main strengths, which is on the counter-attack. Manager Enzo Maresca claimed Leeds are the best in the Championship in transition earlier this season.
Leeds have an abundance of pace in the final third with the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, who have been ready to exploit defences all year with their link-up play.
However, clearly Leicester have plenty of strengths of their own. The Foxes are very good at keeping possession and sustaining attacks, which is why Ipswich Town’s Conor Chaplin thinks they are the best team in the league.
