Ipswich’s Conor Chaplin shares who he thinks are the better team this season… Leeds or Leicester

Ipswich Town attacker Conor Chaplin has been asked who he thinks are the better side from Leeds United and Leicester City.

The two sides go head-to-head tomorrow at Elland Road in arguably the biggest game of the Championship season so far, with both currently occupying a place in the top two.

Leicester have been the division’s pace-setters so far and have sat top of the league for much of the campaign, having amassed an incredible points tally of 78 from their 33 matches this term.

However, Leeds are certainly the in-form side in the division and since the turn of the New Year, have won eight consecutive matches, which has seen the gap to the Foxes close from 17 points, to nine.

Speaking on talkSPORT ahead of the game tomorrow, Chaplin says despite Leeds having completed a league double over Ipswich, he believes Leicester are actually the better side.

Chaplin says Leicester better than Leeds

He said: “It probably sounds a bit stupid because we got battered at Leeds at Elland Road and we drew twice with Leicester, but I think Leicester in terms of the way they make you feel on the pitch.

“Possession, they make you feel inferior without the ball but we have lost twice against Leeds and we struggled to lay a glove on them in the second game.

“They’re both really good teams, with really good players but Leicester with their style of play make you feel very inferior.”

Ipswich have only been on the end of four defeats so far this season, but half of those have come against Leeds, conceding eight goals in the process.

Leeds were by the dominant team in the match at Elland Road, coming away with an emphatic 4-0 victory just before Christmas, though Chaplin’s point of view on why Leicester are better is understandable.

They have been more consistent during the season and their possession-based style can mean that teams spend the majority of matches against the Foxes chasing the ball, which can be a difficult experience for a player.

Leeds on the other hand, are far more dangerous on the counter-attack, something which Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna says the Whites are the best in the league at. A contrast in styles, but it should be another enthralling match tomorrow night.
