Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has shared his assessment of Leeds United’s 4-0 win over his side at Elland Road.
Leeds sent out a statement of intent to the rest of the division with an emphatic victory, racing into a 3-0 half-time lead thanks to Pascal Struijk, Crysencio Summerville and a Leif Davis own goal.
Joel Piroe then rounded off the scoring in the second half to move Leeds within seven points of their opponent at the half way stage of the season in the race for automatic promotion.
Heading into the game, Leeds were the side under pressure according to Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff, but showed no signs of that, executing an almost perfect performance.
And speaking in his post-match interview, McKenna has hailed Leeds as the best side in the division on the counter-attack, claiming the early goal was key to the result.

He said: “We know we’re playing against a team who are incredibly strong and at their absolute best when they’re a goal ahead and can transition. That’s what they do better than anyone in the league.”
McKenna is not the first manager in the Championship to come out and say this, with Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca having also done so earlier this month.
Given that Leeds have now picked up nine points from their three matches against the top two, it just shows how dangerous they can be when teams are happy to open up.
Leeds’ attack has been labelled as ‘unplayable’ at times this season and so when there is space to play, it is almost impossible to stop them.
Hopefully this can be the start of a long run of form for Leeds heading into the second half of the season in what promises to be an exciting race for the top two.
