Jermaine Beckford blown away by ‘absolutely ridiculous’ first half moment from 22-year-old in big Leeds win

Leeds United produced arguably their best performance of the season to defeat Ipswich Town 4-0 at Elland Road.

Having entered the game ‘under pressure’ due to the 10-point gap Ipswich had opened up over the Whites, but there were no signs of that as Leeds ran out comfortable winners.

Leeds took the lead inside the opening 10 minutes thanks to Pascal Struijk’s goal, with Leif Davis (OG), Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe also getting on the scoresheet.

But it was Summerville’s involvement in the Davis own goal which has drawn praise from Jermaine Beckford, who was providing analysis of the game on Sky Sports.

After receiving a pass from Glen Kamara, Summerville then ghosted past two defensive challenges before putting the ball across the face of goal, with Beckford hailing that run as ‘absolutely ridiculous’.

Summerville just gets better and better

He said: “You look at the phase of play, and where they are on the pitch. Great hold up play from Rutter, Kamara looking at the ball there – he might have wanted to put the ball a little bit further ahead. But then Summerville drifts past two defenders, absolutely ridiculous.”

Ipswich just could not live with the pace and trickery of Summerville all afternoon with the Dutchman playing a key role in all of Leeds’ opening three goals.

Summerville is now on 11 goals and six assists already for the season and only one player – Adam Armstrong – has more. He has often spoken about his desire to be the main man, and that’s what he is.

It shows just how good Summerville is at this level with how much he put Ipswich to the sword, a side who had made a record breaking start to the season.

Leeds now just need to make sure they are able to keep him in January but all of the reports coming out from the club would indicate they are confident in doing so.
