‘It’s just clicked’… Crysencio Summerville names the Leeds United player he loves playing alongside

Crysencio Summerville says he tried to take Georginio Rutter under his wing at Leeds United in the same way Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha did to him.

Summerville was speaking in an interview with leedsunited.com, where he was asked about his partnership with Rutter, which has developed strongly over the course of the season.

Both have been among Leeds’ best players so far this term as they sit one and two respectively for goal contributions in the Championship from Daniel Farke’s squad.

With six goals and four assists, Summerville has 10, and with three goals and five assists, Rutter has eight. They seem to be building a telepathic connection with each other on the pitch.

Rutter has also provided the assist for three of Summerville’s goals and it is clear that their understanding just seems to be getting better and better by the week.

Summerville on playing alongside Rutter

Speaking on his relationship with Rutter, Summerville says he took him under his wing after a difficult start to his Leeds career, and are now really starting to reap the benefits.

He said: “One of my friends from back home, actually played alongside Georginio at Hoffenheim, so when he arrived, I already knew of him and took him under my wing. Since then it’s just clicked between us.

“His quality is unbelievable, he had a difficult time at the beginning, so I tried to help him through it, now he feels at home and our partnership is growing really well.

“Players like Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha took me under their wing when I arrived, so for me, it was only right to do the same for the likes of Georginio and Willy.”

Both players have been a joy to watch so far this season and it is pretty clear that they are a level above what most Championship defences can deal with.

It is also nice to hear that Summerville looked to help Rutter through his difficult start at Leeds, citing both Phillips and Raphinha as examples when he was in the same situation.

If one thing is for sure it is clearly working as Rutter now looks right at home at Leeds, both on and off the pitch.
