Leeds United are supposedly on pole position to sign Spezia and Poland goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski this month – but the Serie B club’s sporting director has now responded to those reports.
Dragowski has endured a difficult few years after breaking into the world of Italian football at giants Fiorentina. He played 86 times for La Viola, but lost his place – moving to Spezia in the summer of 2022.
He failed to stop Spezia being relegated, alongside Ethan Ampadu. While Ampadu left in the summer and returned to Chelsea before joining Leeds, two-time Poland star Dragowski remained with Spezia.
Now, he’s lost his starting spot in the side, in the second tier of Italian football. Spezia are trying to sell him and have already identified a replacement – in Pisa’s Leonardo Loria. Leeds are said to be on pole.
Those reports were put to Spezia’s sporting director, Eduardo Macia. He was asked by SportItalia if we are winning the race to sign £3.2m Dragowski this month: “Nothing concrete, we continue on our way.”

Leeds have bigger fish to fry. We need defenders this month. A right-back, a left-back and possibly if Charlie Cresswell goes, a new centre-back. Or, a couple of players that can cover the positions we need.
Between the sticks, is probably where Leeds are best covered. Illan Meslier is a step above the second tier in terms of quality, Karl Darlow is an experienced and solid back-up. Kris Klaesson has impressed.
Unless one or even two of those are sold in the next fortnight, would Leeds then need a goalkeeper. But it seems highly unlikely and while anything is possible, a move for Dragowski does not seem a priority.
