Wilfried Gnonto was spotted wearing a protective boot after Leeds United’s 3-0 win over Watford.

Captured by a fan on Twitter at full-time, Gnonto joined the rest of his Leeds teammates on the pitch as they walked round the Elland Road turf to thank supporters, unfortunately in a boot.

The 19-year-old was replaced in the starting line-up by Dan James for this afternoon’s clash against the Hornets, with the Welshman registering two second half assists.

As per Phil Hay, Daniel Farke has since confirmed in his post-match press conference that he will require minor surgery on a bone in his foot and will be out until after the next international break.

Gnonto went down under a challenge on halfway and despite trying to carry on for a few minutes, had to be replaced by Crysencio Summerville.

Gnonto spotted in protective boot after Leeds win

As the rest of his teammates completed a lap of honour this afternoon, Gnonto was seen wearing a protective boot.

While clearly Gnonto is going to be out for number of weeks, a protective boot does not necessarily mean the injury is extremely serious.

Thankfully for Leeds, Gnonto was walking without the aid of crutches and will be out for less time than Djed Spence, who has completed the first week of his eight-week lay-off.

Farke has a number of options in Gnonto’s position in order to cope with the loss of the Italian for the coming matches.

As mentioned, James was able to provide assists for both Joel Piroe and Sam Byram, while Jaidon Anthony came off the bench to net Leeds’ third and final goal.
