‘Very, very good’… Daniel Farke orchestrates Leeds United masterstroke as Thorp Arch prospect lauded

With Daniel Farke set to assess the Leeds United squad in the summer maybe the academy deserves a chance.

Leeds’ squad has certainly proved it’s clear of Championship level, but the 49ers might have to spend big for the Whites to compete in the Premier League.

Gabby Agbonlahor thinks Leeds will be relegated, as it all depends on the summer business.

An alternative to not spending a shed load of money is turning to the academy, in which Thorp Arch has produced some exciting talents over the years, as Farke could consider this option.

Most recently, Archie Gray has been the main graduate, but they could replicate their fortunes with another player after he has been highly praised.

Leeds United prospect Charlie Crew lauded at Doncaster Rovers

With Thorp Arch producing these talents over the years, the current batch doesn’t look too bad.

Harry Gray has emerged as the most exciting, as the young striker, looks to follow in his brothers’ footsteps.

Another is Charlie Crew, as the 18-year-old Welshman has impressed on loan for Doncaster Rovers, and Crew has shone for Wales under-19s.

It seems like the talented midfielder is clear of League Two level, and Doncaster manager, Grant McCann, proved that after his comments in a 3-0 win over Tranmere Rovers.

“Very good, very, very good. Very pleased with Charlie today,” McCann said.

Championship is calling for Crew in Farke masterclass for Leeds

It’s important not to rush young talent if they aren’t ready for the big step-up in professional football.

After impressing with the academy, Crew deserved this loan move and could be set to experience two promotions, one with Doncaster, who sit second, and Leeds, who are edging ever closer.

Crew has been told he needs game time, which could hint at another loan move next season, but after his performance vs Tranmere, it’s clear a high-end League One move or Championship switch is needed.

Farke made the bold choice to loan out Crew instead of continuing his development in the academy, which has proven to be a masterstroke.

This could lead to major opportunities for the youngster, and at 18, he no doubt has a high ceiling.

Of course, there is no need for pressure on Crew, who is going about his business just fine.

But going off a short stint in League Two, the Welshman deserves a move higher up the EFL ladder, as the Championship could be calling.
