Daniel Farke watched his Leeds United side cruise past Swansea City on Tuesday night, and the win will have felt doubly more so – after learning of Bristol City’s surprise 3-1 win over Southampton.
Crysencio Summerville opened the scoring early on, his shot deflecting past Carl Rushworth into the Swansea net – after brilliant work from Georginio Rutter. The Frenchman was praised by Gary Rowett.
Not long after, and Joel Piroe made it 2-0 – scoring against his old side with his right foot after being included in the starting line-up late on, following an injury sustained by Patrick Bamford in the warm-up.
Then, it was the Willy Gnonto show. The Italian had missed a glorious one-on-one chance earlier, but then, he made amends with a left-footed finish at the near post. Then, another goal from the Italian.
Gnonto nabbed his second after being played in on the right by Summerville, finishing with aplomb on the right flank. A gorgeous finish. A seventh consecutive league win, and a sixth clean sheet in that run.

Leeds are on fire. The Leeds players, and Farke, will have been buzzing. But none more so than when returning to the dressing room to find Southampton had been beaten 3-1, their unbeaten run ending.
A brilliant night for Leeds, then. Speaking in his press conference after the match, Leeds boss Farke told Leeds Live that he was focused on our result – when asked about Southampton’s defeat at Ashton Gate.
“No,” Farke said, when asked if Southampton’s loss could be pivotal. “The win for us is important. It’s just about us and what we do. Our tally – you need special wins to finish in the top positions,” he said.
Need top average to get into the top two. Playing the best season in points in the history of this club. Very hard summer and the players deserve all the praise. Tight together at the moment,” Farke added.
