Georginio Rutter sparkled once again without nabbing himself a goal or an assist on Tuesday night during Leeds United’s 4-0 win over Swansea City – and Gary Rowett raved about the Frenchman.
Rutter pretty much created the first goal, though. A corner found its way to the edge of the box, and Rutter won the ball back with a lovely bit of skill – before it was played to Cree Summerville by Ilia Gruev.
Summerville cut inside and his shot was deflected into the back of the net, setting Leeds on their way. Summerville’s 16th goal of the season. It was 2-0 not long after, Joel Piroe scoring against his old side.
Leeds put Swansea to the sword – a third coming from Willy Gnonto, who cut inside off the right and lashed a shot inside Carl Rushworth’s near post. Gnonto got himself a second late on, finishing well.
The Italy star now has four goals in his last four games, since coming into the side. Speaking on Sky Sports’ News coverage of the 4-0 win, Rowett was impressed by Rutter’s involvement in the first goal.
“It’s good play from Rutter. He uses the ball, uses a bit of physicality, gets the ball back. He misses his chance but wins the ball back, shows some lovely feet. It gets played wide, Summerville strikes it well.”

It was superb play from Rutter, before the ball found it’s way to Summerville and when you’re playing well – luck seems to follow. It is a massive win for Leeds, a sixth clean sheet in seven league games.
Not only that, but seven consecutive Championship wins – and of course, a huge win given Bristol City beat Southampton 3-1 at Ashton Gate. Leeds now sit second, two points ahead of Russell Martin’s men.
