Another Valencia player has spoken out over the future of former Leeds United assistant Carlos Corberan after a challenging start to the La Liga season for Los Ches.
Carlos Corberan has been the head coach of Valencia since midway through the 2024/25 season, having previously managed Huddersfield Town and West Brom in the Championship.
Corberan’s first taste of English football came with Leeds United, where he worked as the Academy head coach before stepping up to work with the first team under Marcelo Bielsa.
The former Leeds man is under pressure at the Mestalla, with Valencia currently sitting 17th in the La Liga table, forcing Corberan to defend his position at the club in recent days.
Now, after Valencia defender Jose Copete backed Corberan, another one of his players has backed the under-fire boss during the international break.

Carlos Corberan defended by Valencia player Lucas Beltran
Speaking to club media, Argentinian forward Lucas Beltran spoke out in favour of Corberan, despite a challenging start to the season.
The Valencia squad has been ravaged by injuries, with on-loan Leeds forward Largie Ramazani one of several players expected to return from injury after the international break.
According to Beltran, the Valencia squad remains entirely united behind Corberan, despite their difficult run. Beltran said: “We’re doing well, very united, with those good feelings after the match against Real Betis. We have a great dressing room, a very healthy one. We’re all pulling in the same direction.
“I don’t tend to look at social media or listen to things, I know some things are being said… but in the world of football, they always focus on the negative or try to find something negative. There’s none of that here.
“We come here every day happy, grateful to be here, and we give our best to keep improving and take Valencia CF where it deserves to be, which is as high as possible.
“There’s talk that we’re in a situation where we want the coach sacked, and that’s unthinkable. As a person or a player, it would never occur to me to do something like that.”

Change in Director of Football could create a risk for former Leeds United coach
Corberan remains in demand, having recently been linked with the vacant Middlesbrough job, and is someone Leeds are believed to retain an interest in.
However, his position at Valencia could be impacted by a change in Director of Football, as the club announced the departure of Miguel Angel Corona during the international break.
Corona joined Valencia in 2019 and oversaw a turbulent six years, in which the club saw seven different managers, including Corberan and former Leeds manager Javi Gracia.
The arrival of Ron Gourlay as Football CEO, who enjoys a strong relationship with Corberan, according to Diario AS, saw Corona marginalised. However, with a replacement expected to be appointed, Corberan will need to improve results to avoid more scrutiny over his position.
