Paraag Marathe might have thought that the first manager he would need to sack would be Leeds United manager Daniel Farke, when hiring Russell Martin at Rangers.
In the summer, there were question marks over Farke’s future at Leeds despite winning the title and promotion. Richard Keys says Jose Mourinho turned Leeds down, prompting Marathe to back Farke.
At the same time, Marathe and The 49ers had bought a controlling stake alongside Andrew Cavanagh at Rangers. They hired the man who beat Leeds in the play-off final with Southampton, Russell Martin.
But a dismal start north of the border has forced Marathe’s hand. Rangers have decided to sack Martin after a draw against Falkirk on Sunday, with Martin securing just one Premiership win during his tenure.

Sean Dyche stance revealed on taking Rangers job
With doubts emerging and now the sacking of Martin at Rangers, the Gers were being linked with a few managers and one of those inevitably was Sean Dyche. Dyche has been out of work since leaving Everton.

But according to Sky Sports, Dyche is not interested in taking the Rangers job at the moment, leaving Marathe and The Gers to look at other options. Dyche has only ever worked in England as a manager.
Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas posted on X: “Understand Sean Dyche would not be interested in the Rangers job at this time. Derek McInnes still has his admirers at Ibrox but Hearts are top of the league.”
Troy Deeney urged Leeds to hire Sean Dyche in the summer
The doubts regarding Farke were that the German had only won six of his 49 Premier League games while with Norwich. But Farke lacked the funding he has had at Leeds, when promoted with The Canaries.
Now, he has been given the chance to make a fair fist of it in the top tier and has since secured a total of eight points from seven games. A solid start, with the Leeds board happy with Farke’s start as manager.

But it comes after Troy Deeney urged Leeds to consider Dyche as a replacement, making the point that Dyche would keep Leeds in the Premier League. Now, it looks as if Dyche will reject The 49ers.
Marathe and Rangers need to make a decision on a manager quickly, with 11 days separating now and the return to action when Rangers host Dundee United at Ibrox on the 18th, before going to Brann.
