Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has recognised Leeds United boss Daniel Farke after he inspired his side to a famous 3-1 win over Chelsea.
Daniel Farke was under scrutiny heading into the game against Chelsea, as he fights to save his job at Leeds.
Reports in the build-up to the game suggested that Gary O’Neill was being lined up to replace the under-fire Leeds boss, after a run of four consecutive Premier League defeats.
However, the Leeds squad showed they are still fighting for Farke in the most emphatic way possible, as Ao Tanaka helped inspire a battling win over the Blues.
Now, Troy Deeney has recognised Farke’s influence over Leeds’ statement victory, naming him as the manager of his Premier League Team of the Week.

Daniel Farke named as Troy Deeney’s Premier League Manager of the Week
Speaking to BBC Sport, former Watford striker Deeney praised Farke for out-coaching Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca in the 3-1 victory.
According to Deeney, Farke earned a “massive tip of the hat” for inspiring the victory, despite the speculation around his Elland Road future.
Deeney said: “Beating Chelsea was a massive result. There was a lot of pressure this week and talk that if he lost all three, depending on the manner of the games, he’d be sacked.
“They had a wonderful performance against Manchester City and backed that up against the Blues, who everyone has been raving about.
“They handled the expectation and pressure so much that Enzo Maresca said Leeds were better in every department. That’s a massive tip of the hat.”

Daniel Farke can end 26-year wait with Leeds United
Although Farke is riding a wave of optimism following Leeds’ win over Chelsea, things do not get any easier for the Leeds boss, as he prepares his side to face the defending champions, Liverpool.
While Liverpool’s form has been patchy in recent weeks, Leeds have only ever won three of their home Premier League games against the Reds, with Tony Yeboah’s famous strike settling one of those wins.
Leeds United have a poor recent track record against Liverpool 🤦
According to the BBC, Leeds also have a patchy track record against the defending Premier League champions, having last claimed a win against the reigning premiers in May 2003, when Mark Viduka inspired a 3-2 win over Arsenal.
Leeds’ last home win against the Premier League champions came in May 1999, when Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over the Gunners to hand the title to Leeds’ arch-rivals Manchester United.
