Archie Gray has made a solid impact at Tottenham since his departure from Leeds United as the youngster has thrived in difficult circumstances.

Gray made the exciting step of joining Tottenham this summer from Leeds for a fee of £40m.

Martin Keown was stunned at Gray’s fee but it hasn’t stopped the young Englishman flourishing for the Premier League side.

It’s been a difficult season for Tottenham, but Gray has proven to be a shining light in North London.

He’s a favourite at Tottenham as Gray was labelled a future captain for Spurs and after recent displays, it’s added to admiration for the youngster.

Ange Postecoglou stunned at what former Leeds star Archie Gray is doing

As mentioned, it’s been a difficult season for Spurs, and there position in the Premier League says it all.

Incredibly, Ange Postecoglou’s side are just seven places away from Leeds in the football league, but that is no fault of Gray.

The central midfielder, well if you can call him that, has been enduring the majority of his career under Postecoglou at centre-back, and the Spurs boss couldn’t be prouder.

Following on from Tottenham’s 3-0 Europa League victory against Elfsborg, Postecoglou commented in a post-match press conference: “It goes under the radar but the job Archie Gray’s doing is ridiculous.”

The Tottenham boss continued his praise in the most recent pre-match presser after Spurs’ 2-0 victory at Brentford.

“I just think he’s a fantastic player,” Postecoglou said.

“I’m so pleased he’s at this football club. He’s a fantastic kid as well. He just wants to learn, no task is too much for him, and he tackles everything with a real kind of calmness that belies his years.

“There aren’t many 18-year-olds who you could throw into the Premier League, play out of position in such an important area of the park, and handle it the way he has. Just brilliant.”

Gray has shown his importance at Spurs which Leeds fans will be in awe of

Of course, Leeds fans will know Gray’s promise is no surprise.

In his only season with the first team at Elland Road, he was brilliant and showed his versatility by playing naturally in midfield, but also right-back.

He can now add centre-back to that list, as his numbers against Brentford were solid for someone who isn’t even 19.
