After a difficult start to life at Leeds United, Jayden Bogle will have been pleased to have helped Daniel Farke’s side keep a clean sheet from their trip to Cardiff City on Saturday.
It is fair to say that Jayden Bogle has not hit the ground running at Elland Road in the way many would have hoped, with the right-back looking rusty at times in the opening weeks of the season. Farke was not impressed by Bogle’s role in Burnley’s winner last week.
It is definitely too soon to write Bogle off, particularly as he showed a glimpse of what he can do going forward against the Bluebirds, winning the penalty which should have put Leeds 2-0 up in the Welsh capital.

However, it was, once again, not a perfect afternoon for the 24-year-old. Bogle arguably looked slightly questionable defensively again, and he received a yellow card shortly before half-time.
The former Sheffield United man went down inside the penalty area, but the referee opted to book the full-back for diving. And speaking on LUTV (broadcast on 21/9; 15:43), Tony Dorigo suggested that there was no need at all for Bogle to go to ground in the hope of winning a penalty.

“That’s silly. Just felt he was going to do that when the challenge came in, didn’t need to as well, takes a touch, and still really if he played on had possession of the ball in the box,” he said.
A slow start
It will obviously be a concern that Bogle has not been able to shine so far. Bogle looked really impressive at times in pre-season, and it seemed that he was going to be a good replacement for Archie Gray as Farke’s men look to get themselves out of the Championship.
However, Bogle gave away a penalty against Portsmouth on the opening day of the campaign, and it is almost as if he has not got back on track since then. He is a player who arrived with 24 goal contributions in 114 games in the second tier under his belt.
But he is yet to open his account for Leeds. Perhaps assessments of his performance would have been different had Pascal Struijk scored the penalty which Bogle won. However, it does appear that the Leeds fans are still waiting to see a lot more from the summer signing.
