Leeds United’s form is attracting some attention as Dominic Calvert-Lewin fires them away from the drop zone, with Sunday’s 1-1 draw increasing the gap between Leeds and the bottom three.
Even though Leeds have slipped into 17th place following Nottingham Forest’s win over Tottenham, they have still increased the gap between themselves and West Ham in 18th, from two points to three.
Answer this: Leeds United will finish in ___th place if Dominic Calvert-Lewin stays fit 📊
Six goals in five for the big man!
Calvert-Lewin got his head on the ball to score for a fourth consecutive Premier League match. A brilliant header and it will come as no surprise to the striker himself, talk of a World Cup call-up is growing.
But Leeds deserved a point and possibly more. Mark Clattenburg said John Brooks was wrong not to award Leeds a penalty for a tug on Calvert-Lewin. But it is another point and Tim Howard had his say.

Tim Howard knows what will be said around the training ground
Leeds remain in the thick of a relegation battle, although they are now 14 points ahead of Wolves and six in front of Burnley. They remain on the point-a-game curve, which should be enough to keep Leeds up.
Speaking on NBC Sports, former USA and Everton star Tim Howard shared what the mood will be like at Thorp Arch this week and the momentum will be growing because Leeds are three games unbeaten.
One of the things hardest too for sides down the bottom, aside from winning, is gaining momentum. It’s hard to gain momentum but you do that by picking up results. Not amazing, but a good result.
“Now, around the training ground, you’ll hear ‘three games unbeaten’. That’s what people will start to say, it helps with morale and momentum,” Howard said, having watched Leeds win a point against Brentford.

Three years since a side were relegated in Leeds’ position
It has been a while since a side boasting 16 points or more were relegated after 16 games. Indeed, it was Leicester in 2022-23 that were relegated despite boasting 17 points from 16 games that season.
Leicester would only win 17 more points from the next 22 matches. It was the same season in which Leeds were relegated under Sam Allardyce, who had 15 points from 16 games with Jesse Marsch still in charge.
At this point, if a club is on the point-a-game line, they tend to survive. But the issue this season, is that it is difficult to imagine West Ham going down. However, it does feel like Wolves and Burnley will go down.
Leeds have to keep getting results and steer themselves clear. Calvert-Lewin was asking off camera how West Ham had got on and it could well be a straight shootout between Leeds and the Hammers for 17th.
