Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto is still hopeful of a move away this summer.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who was provided a new update on the future of Gnonto to Give Me Sport after another dramatic week of events.
Gnonto made his return to training at Leeds earlier this week after holding face-to-face talks with both Daniel Farke and Angus Kinnear.
The 19-year-old had been told to stay away from the rest of the first team squad after refusing to play against Shrewsbury Town and Birmingham City, before then handing in a transfer request.
According to Sky Sports, Everton have seen four offers rejected by Leeds for Gnonto, who is keen to make the move to Goodison Park this summer.
Romano drops new update on Gnonto’s Leeds future
Farke claimed in his press conference on Thursday that Gnonto came to him and apologised for his behaviour in recent weeks, and as such, is expected to be in the squad against Ipswich Town today.
However, according to Romano, Gnonto is still hoping that he can secure a move away before Friday’s 11pm deadline.
He said: “Sulemana is one of the players they are monitoring. This is the reality because a deal for Wilfried Gnonto is very difficult. Leeds have always maintained their position that they don’t want to sell the player. Now he is training again with the squad, so it’s getting complicated.
“The player still hopes for a move in the final days of the window, but it’s very difficult with Leeds.”
Given how firm Leeds’ stance has been throughout the summer, it is hard to see them selling now unless a monstrous offer arrives.
As per Romano, Everton are about to splash just shy of £30 million on Udinese striker Beto and given their financial situation, it is difficult to see them meeting Leeds’ huge valuation.
