Leeds United fully deserved Tuesday’s 4-0 win at Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium and while Swansea boss Luke Williams said his side weren’t good enough – he did think one goal was offside.
Goals from Crysencio Summerville and Joel Piroe set Leeds on their way, before Willy Gnonto scored a brace – one with either foot – to secure a seventh league win in a row. Six clean sheets, in that spell.
The win was made even sweeter given Southampton suffered a 3-1 loss to Bristol City at Ashton Gate. It sees their unbeaten run of 25 games come to an end, and Leeds climb into second place in the table.
Southampton do boast a game in hand, but it is a massive step towards finishing in the top two. It is a result that both Piroe and Daniel Farke commented on, after hearing of the Saints’ loss to Bristol City.
Williams spoke of Leeds and his side’s inability to show aggression and bravery. But, he also told his side’s YouTube channel that he felt Piroe was offside in the build up to his goal, and our second.
“They’re a top side. You can’t play against top teams with that lack of intensity. The game was over after 15 minutes, we tried to play aggressively. Second one is maybe offside, but we gave them a chance.”

It could well have been. Piroe is played the ball in the middle of the park but it does look like he comes from behind the Swansea back line to receive the ball. One of those that would have been very close.
But Williams is right to point out that despite the possibility of the goal being offside, it doesn’t shy away from the fact Leeds were dominant and fully deserved to win by the margin in which we did – or more.
