Daniel Farke has told Wednesday’s press conference that action must be taken in the next nine days before the deadline on August 30 with new signings needed at Leeds United.
Exits of Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and four more players on a permanent basis as well as five on loan and loads more departing Leeds on a free has left the squad looking threadbare.
It is not as if The 49ers have time before the start of the season. Leeds are now three games into the 24-24 campaign with a trip to Sheffield Wednesday up next on Friday afternoon, in front of the cameras.
Farke has previously said he would like a full-back, a midfielder and two new attacking players in order to replace Summerville and Rutter. Plenty of names have been linked, such as Sunderland’s Jack Clarke.

Leeds boss Farke urges 49ers to get busy in the transfer market
Including the permanent sale of Luis Sinisterra to Bournemouth, Leeds have raked in a whopping £138m in transfer fees after Gray and Rutter both left for £40m figures, and Summerville departed for £25m.
But Leeds are yet to make a new signing since Jayden Bogle signed while the squad was still in Germany. That is a whole month of no activity in incomings and Farke has called on The 49ers to move on LUTV.
“I don’t want to cry for sympathy. I am highly paid for this job, it is the owners that spend their money, it’s not the other way round. I do the job, I am fully committed. It was a difficult season last season,” he said.
“I tried to create stability. We did, they’ve left. I trust the board, the owners and we know something has to happen in the next nine days. I am optimistic, I am confident but action is needed rather than words.”

It seems unlikely that there will be any new faces on Friday
While it has been reported by Tony Dorigo that Gretar Steinsson and the transfer team have everything in place in case players did go, it doesn’t seem like it. Leeds feel like they’ve been caught on their heels.
Gray has not been at the club for more than a month, Summerville has been gone for more than a couple of weeks and Rutter was sold two days ago but still, none of the trio have been replaced by the club.
But with time running out, something does have to happen as Farke hopes. Next week surely, Leeds will make some additions and bring some quality to Elland Road or face another season in the second tier.
