Tony Dorigo says he has spoken to Gretar Steinsson about the possibility of some new signings at Leeds United, with the Icelandic transfer guru one part of the Elland Road recruitment team.
Steinsson will be hard at work with the new-look Leeds transfer team now under pressure to get some new signings in at Elland Road. Long gone are the days of a one-man dictatorship controlling every play.
Victor Orta’s exit to Sevilla saw Leeds go in a different direction, bringing in Nick Hammond initially on a temporary basis. But Hammond has remained and both Steinsson and Jordan Miles have been added.
A team then, instead of a one-man band. They have started well, bringing in the likes of Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Ilia Gruev and other impressive signings during Daniel Farke’s era as Leeds United manager.

Dorigo shares what Steinsson told him about new Leeds signings
Former Leeds man Dorigo is as worried as the rest of the Leeds fanbase after the club have sold seven players, left five go on loan and waved goodbye to plenty more at the end of their Elland Road contracts.
That is set to continue with the £40m exit of Georginio Rutter to Brighton imminent. Farke has already confirmed that Rutter has said goodbye and Dorigo told The Square Ball what Steinsson told him.
“I’ve talked to Gretar in the recruitment team. I, like you, said ‘tell me something, give me a bit of information’. He looks at me and goes, ‘I’m going to tell you nothing’. I said, ‘okay’,” Dorigo said.
“He said, ‘because we want to keep everything in-house, a trusted circle, we know what we’re doing, we have all our plans in place and we are ready to respond as and when. So, I’m telling you nothing at all’.
“I thought, oh that’s good because we shouldn’t be knowing. But at the same time, with the clock ticking, you can’t tell me we’re going to get anything a load cheaper. It’s a gamble,” Dorigo told The Square Ball.

What Daniel Farke wants Leeds United to do in the next 12 days
Quite obviously, do something. But Farke spoke after the 0-0 draw with West Brom on Saturday, perhaps with a slightly frustrated tone at the lack of action and publicly implored The 49ers to do some business.
Farke said he wants four new additions before the August 30 deadline. A full-back, a midfielder and two new additions in attacking areas likely to replace the loss of Summerville and Rutter, if it is at all possible.
“Don’t need 43. Not a believer in a big group. Not good for unity. We need cover at full-back, in midfield and two offensive positions. Cannot guarantee we will, but four is roughly what I would like to see.”
