Sky Sports pundit shares first half moment which left Daniel Farke ‘furious’ in Leeds loss vs West Brom

Leeds United suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this season at West Bromwich Albion last night.

Grady Diangana’s goal was the only difference between the two sides with Leeds now well adrift of the top three following the Boxing Day defeat at Preston North End.

Leeds once again struggled to unlock a team who were content to sit back and defend but can feel hard done by with some of the decisions that went against them throughout the game.

Georginio Rutter could’ve had a penalty in the early stages after a challenge from Semi Ajayi, but it was the shout on Willy Gnonto around 25 minutes later which frustrated Daniel Farke.

Gnonto brought down a long ball over the top from Ethan Ampadu before being pulled down by Cedric Kipre as he shaped to shoot. Speaking on Sky Sports, Lee Hendrie has revealed the decision left Farke ‘absolutely furious’.

Leeds can feel aggrieved by decisions

He said: “Initially I didn’t think it was a penalty. But you can quite clearly see he pulls him back on the approach of the ball. Daniel Farke was absolutely furious at that.”

Leeds can certainly feel aggrieved by the decisions Graham Scott made on the night, particularly when you consider the ones that went in the favour of Southampton and Ipswich Town on the same day.

Plymouth Argyle had a perfectly good goal ruled out at 0-0 against Southampton, before then conceding the opening goal less than a minute later. Ipswich, meanwhile were not punished for a blatant handball in the eight minute of added time in their draw with QPR.

At the same time, Farke needs to look deeper into Leeds’ issues and why they are seemingly unable to break down anyone who sits back against them.

It has now happened in each of their last three matches and it is something Farke needs to improve if Leeds are to be promoted back to the Premier League.
