Leeds United are edging ever closer to the Premier League dream, as the Sunderland win has given the Whites a massive boost.

Daniel Farke’s side performed excellently in the second half to make it a memorable night against the Black Cats.

Leeds won 2-1 vs Sunderland as the gap between the two clubs is now ten points.

This hasn’t only given Leeds a real advantage in achieving promotion, but a win against Sheffield United next Monday will put them in a great position.

You know Farke’s team means business when Sunderland’s Dan Neil is even calling Leeds ‘quality’.

The late comeback shows what Leeds are about and it gives them every reason why they can do the same in the Premier League.

Speaking to talkSPORT with Jim White (18/02/2025 10:09) Jordan believes Leeds can break the trend of Championship clubs being relegated after one season in the Premier League.

“We’ve got this statistic of teams going down after they’ve come straight back up,” Jordan said.

“Leeds have the opportunity to do (end the trend) that.

“I don’t like to say they deserve to be in the Premier League but Leeds are a legacy club.”

Leeds must not get into the habit of becoming a yo-yo club

The Whites will not want to emulate the likes of West Brom and Norwich City in recent years and didn’t the last time they were in the Premier League.

However, in the last two out of three Premier League seasons, all three promoted teams have been relegated.

The 49ers want Premier League targets at Leeds as the owners will want to improve on their three-season stay last time round.

Farke has the chance to etch himself into managerial history at Leeds, as the size of a club like the Whites, belongs in the Premier League.
