Simon Jordan makes surprise prediction on Leeds United in the Premier League

Simon Jordan has given his thoughts on whether Leeds United will stay up in the Premier League next season.

Leeds United are back in the Premier League and the parties are only just coming to an end, for now at least.

Daniel Farke and his players have been revelling in their achievement since Easter Monday, when their 6-0 win over Stoke City sent them on the way to promotion before Burnley defeated Sheffield United.

Scott Parker’s side have also booked their spot in the top flight, with the two sides now in a straight shoot-out for the Championship title in their two remaining fixtures.

But the biggest prize has already been won and attention will soon turn to a very different campaign where Leeds and Burnley will have to fight for their lives in a Premier League that is becoming increasingly difficult for newly-promoted sides.

Southampton and Leicester City have already been sent back to the Championship after a season with hardly a whimper, while Ipswich Town won’t be far behind them.

Simon Jordan has explained Leeds will have to spend at least £50m-60m in the transfer window to have a good chance of survival but does think they will be able to buck the trend and stay up.

Simon Jordan thinks Leeds United can stay in the Premier League

Speaking on Leeds and Burnley’s returns to the first division, Jordan predicted that both would back their managers during the summer and at least make a good attempt at taking on the Premier League.

He said on TalkSport: “I wouldn’t be surprised if the two of them make a really good fist of it and give themselves a good chance.

“If you ask me to put a bet on Burnley and Leeds staying up, I’d take that bet. I’d bet on it.

“I’d be quite happy to put £100 on each one of them. I’d have a go at that because it’s worth a punt.

“Confident in the fact that the managers are capable enough to get them out of the division. If you want to judge Daniel Farke you’ve got to judge him by the fairness of the opportunities he was given.

“He was at Norwich, there wasn’t a lot of investment in the squad.

“I think if you go up to the Premier League and you get given over two seasons £50-60m quid, you are a hostage to fortune and you’re going to get the outcomes that ultimately you get, which is being in amongst the relegation battle.

“Forest spent a king’s ransom and just about stayed in the division the first season round, Villa the same, just about stayed in.

“So there’s an element of luck, fortune, good buys and good management but you give yourself a bit more of a chance to be in the way of good luck if you’ve got better players helping you with it.”

Who will Leeds sign in summer transfer window?

It certainly seems like there will be an exciting transfer window in store for Leeds.

Farke has already made it clear he wants ‘ambition’ from the 49ers this summer after bemoaning the lack of signings in the January transfer window.

With Premier League promotion now secured, the transfer rumours are already flying ahead of the summer.

Russian midfielder Edouard Spertsyan could be on the agenda, though hometown hero Kalvin Phillips has already been linked with a return amid a reported £100m spending spree.

Experienced strikers Danny Ings and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been touted, which might not be the most thrilling names, and Tottenham’s pricetag for Manor Solomon to move permanently has also been revealed.

There are bound to be countless more players linked in the weeks and months to come.
