Simon Jordan has told TalkSPORT – as per Leeds Live – that he was “surprised” to see Leeds United being linked with a move for Patrick Vieira, as the Whites look to announce our next manager before the end of the week.
Coming into the week, it was believed that the appointment would be one of three. Daniel Farke, Scott Parker or West Brom manager Carlos Corberan. The Mail say Leeds want a manager with Premier League experience, though.
That has since ruled out Corberan, while Vieira has come into the mix – as per The Mail. The Premier League icon is without a job after being sacked by Crystal Palace not long after the turn of the year, despite a tricky run of games.
The belief among many Palace fans is that Vieira was harshly sacked, after impressing in his first season. Simply, that Palace had a harsh run of games – and Roy Hodgson benefited from playing weaker teams after his return.
Ex-Palace owner Jordan reacted to the news that Vieira could drop into the Championship and take over at Leeds. He says that he was “surprised” to see him linked- claiming he has not heard the greatest things behind the scenes.
“A little bit [surprised]. With all due respect, I’m not sure I heard the greatest things behind the scenes. We’ll see how good his agents are. Get him in front of the American ownership and spin them a yarn,” Jordan told TalkSPORT.

Given Jordan will have some links to Palace following his previous ownership, the comments are worrying regarding Vieira. But, Leeds need a leader. A man the players will buy into. Certainly, they will follow a legend like Vieira.
Burnley did it last season by hiring Vincent Kompany, who has struggled at Anderlecht. So, hiring Vieira would be a decent move. But perhaps, the safe option remains in the form of ex-Norwich boss Farke – who is still the favourite.
