Leeds United’s pursuit of Daniel Farke is now ‘growing momentum’ as they close in on appointing a new manager.

That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who provided an update on Leeds’ hunt for a new manager to Give Me Sport, revealing Farke is very much a leading contender.

Leeds are hoping to wrap up the process of finding Sam Allardyce’s replacement next week, having narrowed down their list of targets after talks in the last few days.

Angus Kinnear and co are set to conduct interviews immediately after the weekend in the hope of making a decision in the days that follow.

Farke is certainly reported to be among those set for an interview having impressed in initial talks with the club, with Carlos Corberan and Scott Parker also targets.

Jacobs issues update on Leeds’ Farke pursuit

Much of the noise this week, certainly since Brendan Rodgers was ruled out of the running, has been around Farke and how he is now a leading candidate.

CBS journalist Jacobs has echoed that, explaining how there is a ‘growing feeling’ Farke could be the man who is handed the reigns.

He said: “I think that we have to be cautious about the amount of names that are being linked with Leeds United, at this point, because the new owners have explored and will continue to explore more than one candidate.

“But there is certainly a growing feeling that Daniel Farke could be a serious candidate for Leeds United.

“I think that he would be a very smart appointment in many ways, and somebody that would stand a very realistic chance of getting them straight back up into the Premier League. Daniel Farke is growing momentum and could be a strong fit.”

Leeds cannot afford to let this process drag out beyond next week as ultimately, it has now gone on long enough, and plenty of work needs doing on the playing squad.

That said, Farke would represent a smart appointment by Leeds based on his track record, with a limited budget at Norwich City – winning two Championship titles.

Farke also plays an attractive brand of football, something which Leeds fans have been crying out for since Marcelo Bielsa left the club almost 18 months ago.
