Leeds United cruised past Ipswich Town to win 4-0 on Saturday at Elland Road in what was a must-win game in the promotion race – and Salim Lamrani posted a hilarious Marcelo Bielsa throwback.

Leeds went into the game having failed to pick up three points from the last two games against Coventry and Sunderland. But, it was Daniel Farke‘s side that won the match, annihilating second-placed Ipswich.

Pascal Struijk gave Leeds the lead, finishing from close range after Joel Piroe’s header was saved. Then, we went 2-0 up. Leif Davis scoring an own goal on his return to Elland Road with Kieran McKenna’s side.

Cree Summerville continued his stupendous form this season with a well-taken penalty to put Leeds 3-0 up, and Piroe made it 4-0 in the second half – with his weaker right foot. A brilliant win, in a huge game.

Most Leeds fans will remember Bielsa’s inability to pronounce Ipswich correctly ahead of a clash against the Tractor Boys in 2019, which we lost 3-2. His translator, Lamrani, posted a video of it this afternoon.

What a victory. Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna was impressed, stating Leeds are the best team in the Championship when it comes to transitioning in different areas on the pitch. It showed on Saturday.

The sheer surprise of Leeds smashing Ipswich, and doing so by such a margin, is highlighted by pre-match predictions. David Prutton backed a 2-2 draw. But Leeds were immense. A stunning display.

If Bielsa is watching, and clearly Lamrani is, then he will be proud of his old side today as they take a big step back into the race for automatic promotion. The pressure slightly switches onto Ipswich, today.
