Robin Koch is set for a medical at Eintracht Frankfurt after agreeing a loan move from Leeds United.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports the Bundesliga side have scheduled medical tests for the defender after Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg confirmed Koch had given his ‘yes’ to a move.

Plettenberg had also claimed in his initial tweet the two clubs are now deciding whether there will be an option-to-buy at the end of the season-long-loan, though given Koch is out of contract at Leeds next summer, that aspect of the deal remains unclear.

Plettenberg has since edited his tweet to remove that piece of information, indicating he will indeed move on a free transfer in 12 months’ time.

Manchester United were also interested in a deal for Koch as a cheaper alternative to their first choice targets, but a move back to Germany has always been the 26-year-old’s priority.

Koch chooses Frankfurt as next club as final details to be confirmed today

Koch is set to be among the first of last season’s first team players to move on this summer after not showing up for pre-season on Monday due to his imminent transfer move.

Diego Llorente and Brenden Aaronson are also likely to leave at some point in the coming days, both of which will also be on loan, rather than permanently.

Koch’s desire of a move back to the Bundesliga has been evident almost ever since Leeds’ relegation in May, with the defender targeting a return to the Germany setup ahead of next summer’s EUROs.

He is also said to be targeting becoming more of a leader at his next club, seeing Frankfurt as the ideal destination for him to do that.

Given his contract status, it appears as though Koch has played his last game in a Leeds shirt regardless of whether they are promoted this season.
