Daniel Farke spoke to the media on Monday afternoon and he has told reporters that Sam Byram will “definitely” miss Leeds United’s trip to Swansea City on Tuesday night – due to a new injury he has.
Byram, 30, was given the best part of 30 minutes on Saturday – after playing 90 of 120 on Tuesday night against Plymouth. Junior Firpo is Farke‘s first choice on the left at the moment, he got another assist.
But Byram is a brilliant option on the bench at the moment given he is capable of playing on both sides of the defence. Luckily, it is not the troubling hamstring that has played a huge impact on his career.
Farke told his press conference – as per the club’s YouTube channel – that in fact, it is an injury in the other leg. The Leeds boss says that he hopes it is just a minor injury and is hopeful of a return very soon.
“Sadly, Sam Byram has reported some minor muscle injuries after the last game, so he will definitely miss out on this game – hopefully not too long. Just a minor problem, we await the scan,” Farke said.
“Not the hamstring where he was injured, the other leg. We don’t want to risk it – but we are quite hopeful he is back at the weekend. Perhaps the game after,” Farke continued, in his press conference.

A blow. As stated above, Byram is a brilliant option from the bench because he is a player that would start for most Championship sides. Farke once suggested he is the best left-back in the Championship.
A blow for Byram himself, too. His contract is due to expire in the summer and Graeme Bailey has told us that it might be a case of whether Leeds are promoted, if he is given a new deal. He’d love to sign on.
In order to show he deserves a new deal, Byram needs to rid himself of these injuries and get himself on the pitch and show why he is worthy of a contract. Right now, another injury comes as a blow to that.
