Rob Edwards makes honest admission about Leeds United after watching his Luton side lose at Elland Road

Rob Edwards has delivered his verdict on Leeds United following Luton Town’s 3-0 defeat at Elland Road.

Edwards claimed Leeds were the best side in the Championship prior to the match and it would be fair to say his side failed to lay a glove on the Whites for much of the game.

Sam Byram opened the scoring for Leeds early on and aside from an incredible goal-line clearance from Pascal Struijk, there was only one way the second goal looked like it was heading.

And Leeds could not have picked a better time to double their lead as Joel Piroe steered in from close range just on the stroke of half-time.

Leeds were happy to play keep ball for much of the second half but eventually found the sealing goal when Dan James lobbed ‘keeper Thomas Kaminski following a brilliant through ball from Jayden Bogle.

Edwards makes claim about Leeds

Edwards isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last Championship manager to come out and heap praise on Leeds.

Despite Luton’s poor form, many would’ve viewed this match as a potential banana skin given they came down from the Premier League only last season.

However, Leeds dominated just shy of 80 per cent of the possession throughout as Luton were one of the poorest sides to come to Elland Road all season.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Edwards was asked to deliver his verdict on Leeds and amid some praise for the home side, he believes his side made it too easy.

He said: “We came up against a top team. We let them in behind us too many times. The most difficult place in the Championship to come too at the moment. We couldn’t find our balance.”

Daniel Farke delivers verdict on Luton after Leeds win

Daniel Farke is always one to be respectful to the opposition after a game and this one was certainly no different.

In order to emphasise the quality of Leeds’ victory, Farke wanted to make it clear they were coming up against a side at Premier League level just a matter of months ago.

He told Leeds Live: “Played against a side from the Premier League last year. Many players from that level. Still contenders for the top six. Clean sheet win and show such dominance here, created many chances, three goals. Scored in perfect moments.

“Focused. Apart from the last six or seven minutes we allowed them two strikes. Wanted a clean sheet after the madness of Sunday. This is how you should win such a game.”
