Spanish outlet La Colina de Nervión claim that Victor Orta is closing in on a move to replace Monchi as Sevilla’s sporting director and he could raid Leeds United for midfielder Tyler Adams. Adams is expected to leave Leeds.

Adams, 24, is one of a number of players that are likely to be sold this summer. The Mail have claimed this week that Brighton have joined Nottingham Forest, Everton and Villa in pursuing a possible £25million exit from Elland Road.

90Min say bigger clubs in the Premier League are also looking at the USA skipper, in the form of Liverpool, Spurs, Newcastle and Manchester United. Plenty of clubs are keen, but not many from in and around Europe this summer.

Orta could change that. He is expected to be announced as Monchi’s replacement in the next few days, and one of his first moves could be to raid the club he spent six years at as director of football – and sign midfielder Adams.

Indeed, the report states that Sevilla are keen for a midfielder with Adams’ versatility – and Orta is well aware of what it takes to appeal to Adams, having convinced him to join Leeds from Leipzig last summer, with Jesse Marsch.

Well, it is probably a move that suits all – if, Sevilla can raise the necessary £25m. Leeds would surely prefer not to sell Adams to an English rival. Offloading him to Sevilla means he cannot come back to bite Leeds in the future.

It suits Adams himself because he would be joining the Europa League champions, and will therefore be competing in the Champions League. Orta would get a player worth a whole lot more than £25m. Leeds will get their price tag.
