Daniel Farke has emerged as the leading contender for the Leeds United job following final talks with the club on Friday.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who report San Francisco 49ers Enterprises opened discussions over terms with Farke yesterday after he was chosen as the club’s number one candidate.
Leeds are looking to have the process of choosing a new manager wrapped up by the end of the weekend following several days of extensive face-to-face talks with potential targets.
That said, Leeds may also delay the official announcement of an appointment as they await EFL approval for the 49ers’ takeover of Andrea Radrizzani, which could happen this week.
Farke, Scott Parker and Patrick Vieira emerged as the three leading contenders this week, but it is the former who appears to be the chosen one by Leeds’ hierarchy.
Farke now leading contender for Leeds job
Leeds have been in the market for a manager who has both Premier League and Championship experience as they look to secure an immediate promotion to the top-flight.
While struggling in English football’s first tier, Farke has a track record of getting sides out of this division having twice won the title with Norwich City.
Farke plays an attractive, possesion-based style of play and Leeds fans will be eager to have a manager who allows them to enjoy watching football again.
Leeds return for pre-season on July 2 and will be eager to have the new man settled into his surroundings before getting to work on his new squad.
His appointment could allow Leeds to begin work on both incomings and outgoings this summer, with several of each expected.
