Joel Robles is still yet to accept Leeds United’s invitation of returning for pre-season.

That is according to Leeds Live, who report the 33-year-old shotstopper is yet to take up Leeds’ offer after being included on the club’s released list last month alongside Adam Forshaw.

Despite that, Leeds have left the door open for Robles to join the club’s pre-season with a new deal still not out of the question at Elland Road after impressing when called upon at the end of last term.

Robles is also attracting interest from his former club Everton which would provide him the opportunity to return to the Premier League, and it is clear he is still weighing up his options.

Several members of Leeds’ squad returned for pre-season on Monday, with the next batch to report back on July 10 after being granted an extra week off due to their international exploits.

Robles yet to accept Leeds’ pre-season invite

Robles may yet decide to accept the invite so he can instead return next week, allowing him an extra few days to ensure he feels he is making the right decision.

In his matches last season, Robles has proved he can be a solid asset to the squad, with Leeds midfielder Marc Roca labelling him as ‘incredible’ for how he is both on and off the pitch.

Leeds are set to target the addition of at least one new goalkeeper this summer as they expect Illan Meslier to depart the club.

Whoever comes in, though, will need a solid number two to push and support him, and Robles is certainly someone who fits that bill.

Whether he returns on July 10 will perhaps be the biggest indication of if he may well stay for another season at Leeds.
