Leeds United have announced their official retained list on Monday evening ahead of the 2023-24 season and have confirmed that Joel Robles and Adam Forshaw will leave the club when their contracts end, at the end of the month.
In the club’s second only communication to supporters since relegation, after announcing the 49ers takeover late on Friday last week, the club have now published the retained list. Robles and Forshaw are exiting Leeds this month.
Robles played the final four league games in place of Illan Meslier, while Forshaw was one of our better players in the latter stages of the season. Despite that, neither will remain at Elland Road and will have to find a new club.
Both started in the 4-1 loss to Spurs – and are not the only ones leaving the club. Will Brook and Stuart McKinstry are also leaving Leeds on a free. Scott Godden has been offered a deal, Ben Andreucci and Jay Buchan have not.
However, the statement goes on to say that Leeds will allow Robles and Forshaw to remain with the club throughout the summer – perhaps in order to maintain their fitness levels while they find themselves a new club away from us.

Forshaw made it clear recently that he was desperate to stay at Leeds, no matter what division. Given his form for Leeds towards the end of the season – it is difficult to understand why the club have decided to let Forshaw leave.
Of course, his injuries over the last few seasons will play a part and perhaps the club have decided, enough is enough. For Robles, he got a handful of games and a drop into the second tier might have seen him become no.1.
