Leeds United remain hopeful of reintegrating Wilfried Gnonto back into their first team squad.
That is according to a new update from iNews, who report despite Leeds’ desire to bring him back into the fold at some stage, it is hugely dependent on what sort of fee Everton can offer.
As per Phil Hay, Gnonto is currently training away from the rest of Leeds’ first team squad following the controversial events of last week.
Gnonto made himself unavailable for Leeds’ Carabao Cup tie with Shrewsbury Town last weekend after growing frustrated with San Francisco 49ers Enterprises‘ reluctance to sell him.
Despite then training in the two days between matches against Shrewsbury and Birmingham City, he then also refused to make the trip for the game against the latter.
Leeds remain hopeful of bringing Gnonto back into the fold
Throughout the summer, Leeds have made it clear that Gnonto is someone they want to keep and even made that publicly clear in an official statement last week.
However, as per Football Transfers, Leeds could privately ‘renege’ that stance with a bid of around £25 million likely to tempt 49ers Enterprises into selling.
It is also reported by iNews that Everton are now considering a third bid for Gnonto having yet to get near Leeds’ asking price in either of their two offers so far.
In the seemingly unlikely event Gnonto does remain at Elland Road, it feels as though it will take a substantial amount of time for him to be able to rebuild the bridges he has burnt in the last week.
That said, if Daniel Farke is willing to bring back into the fold, then you never know.
