Union Berlin are eyeing up a move for Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson.
That is according to the Daily Telegraph, who report Union Berlin have looked into a potential move for Aaronson with him having a release clause in his contract after Leeds’ relegation.
The German side will be playing in the Champions League for the first time in their history next season and are expected to be busy this summer to build a squad ready to compete.
Aaronson is widely expected to be one of several who move on from Elland Road this summer with either the Premier League or Bundesliga his likely destination.
According to the Daily Mail, Fulham have also earmarked him as a target in their search for a new number 10, and may accelerate their pursuit after the departure of Willian.
Union Berlin eyeing Aaronson move
Aaronson’s younger brother Paxten is already currently playing in the Bundesliga having made the switch to Eintracht Frankfurt from Philadelphia Union in January.
The release clause in his contract makes it almost certain he will move on after just 12 months at Leeds, though it is unclear whether it would be a loan or permanent move.
The aforementioned Fulham are said to be targeting a temporary switch for the 22-year-old having also had Daniel James on loan from Leeds last season.
Aaronson very much struggled with the physicality of the Premier League last season and scored just one goal all season following his £25 million transfer from RB Salzburg.
A move to the Bundesliga, where there is considerably more space to play, could be what he needs to get his career back on track.
