The Daily Star report that Andrea Radrizzani himself has added Brendan Rodgers to the Leeds United shortlist this summer ahead of a surprise move – withe the Italian said to be a ‘huge admirer’ of the Northern Irish manager.
Leeds confirmed today that they will be parting company with Sam Allardyce. A decision that was expected, after the two parties held talks this week. The announcement says a new manager will be appointed in the coming weeks.
Rodgers has been linked, as has the likes of Graham Potter, Steven Gerrard and Carlos Corberan. The Sun claimed on Thursday that Luton Town manager Rob Edwards and Lorient gaffer Regis Le Bris were also under consideration.
The report from The Star claims that Radrizzani – who has been rightly criticised for using Elland Road as security in a deal to buy Sampdoria – is a big fan of Rodgers. The Italian has added the ex-Leicester boss to the list himself.

The issue Leeds have is convincing Rodgers. He is a manager that has worked in the Premier League for years, with Swansea, Liverpool and then Leicester. At Celtic, he won trophy after trophy, managing in the Champions League.
A move to the Championship will be hard to convince Rodgers, 50, especially with the rocky state of the club at board room level as things stand. But, he may see an opportunity to build a team to his exact wants and needs.
Promotion is only a year away, and that may tempt Rodgers to stick it out with Leeds in the second tier and then guide them into the Premier League. He will know that Leeds are a big force in the top tier, and it could be tempting.
