Premier League striker has ‘big decision’ to make with Leeds United trying to sign him

Leeds United are among a host of clubs interested in signing a Premier League striker on loan this summer.

At this stage, striker does not appear to be a position of priority at Elland Road but that could change between now and the end of the window.

Mateo Joseph is ready for a big individual campaign, though will have to dislodge both Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford for that to happen.

That said, it is not guaranteed they are both still Leeds players come August 30, with Bamford someone the club are open to selling.

Piroe, meanwhile, is attracting interest from abroad after a very up and down first season at Leeds following his big money arrival from Swansea City.

If both Bamford and Piroe were to leave, which does admittedly feel unlikely, Leeds would need to enter the market for another striker.

Despite his very apparent potential, Joseph would not be able to carry the burden on his own, and so someone who could offer something slightly different would be useful.

Leeds had previously been in the running to sign Daniel Jebbison after his decision to leave Sheffield United on a free, but were beaten to his signature by Bournemouth.

However, Jebbison finds himself behind the likes of Dominic Solanke and Enes Unal at the Cherries, and so could be sent out on loan to the Championship to pick up some valuable game time.

Speaking exclusively to LeedsUnited.News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey says Jebbison has a big decision to make, with Leeds and Sunderland among the clubs keen to take him.

He said: “Leeds like Jebbison, we know that from their attempt to sign him permanently and now there is a chance they could get him on loan, it is all about promotion this season and if helps with that, then that is the main concern for the club. But they are not alone, and the player has a big decision to make.”

Leeds would need someone more proven than Jebbison

Though there are certainly plenty of arguments for selling both Piroe and Bamford, you would be losing two proven goal scorers at this level in doing so.

Both were in and out of the starting XI over the course of last season, yet still managed to score a combined total of 23 league goals.

With that in mind, Jebbison really wouldn’t be a wise player to turn to as a replacement given his lack of experience at this level.

Leeds already have a bright young talent in Joseph waiting for his chance, and so a slightly older head would complement the squad far better.
