Leeds United need to be cut-throat when it comes to deciding the futures of some of their players this summer.
One of the biggest issues of the previous ownership was the over-trusting in members of the squad that had served them well in previous seasons, and 49ers Enterprises cannot afford a repeat of those mistakes.
Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling were too clear examples of that during Leeds‘ time in the Premier League and the fact they were still relied upon as regular starters three seasons after promotion was a big factor as to why the Whites were relegated in 2023.
Leeds are anticipating the sales of some key players this summer but what will also be important is how they go about moving on those more on the fringes.
Daniel Farke will not want to undergo too much of a drastic squad overhaul for a second successive summer, but it is also important he knows where needs freshening up.

Journalist shares update on Patrick Bamford’s Leeds future
LeedsUnited.News spoke to transfer insider Graeme Bailey earlier this week about a range of topics surrounding the club ahead of the window.
He certainly provided some interesting updates, with Brenden Aaronson potentially staying among them, as well as the likelihood of Joe Rodon re-signing for the Whites.
Bailey also claimed Gretar Steinsson is a big fan of out of contract Sheffield United attacker Daniel Jebbison, with the Leeds chief keen to bring him across Yorkshire on a free transfer.
And his arrival could be one of a number of changes at the top end of the pitch for Daniel Farke, with Bailey reporting Patrick Bamford could be sold this summer.
Bamford was linked with an exit even before the beginning of the play-offs and it now appears he is genuinely someone they will try to offload.
Bailey said: “Coming back to Jebbison, they are wanting to assess the forward department. They want to address their attackers, Bamford being one of them.
“He is on big money, though, do we see him going to the bottom of the Premier League? Quite possibly, England international but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bamford going.”

Bamford would be a good sale for Leeds
It is crazy to think Bamford has now been at Leeds for six years since a £7 million arrival from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018.
He has certainly contributed plenty in that time, but for a third season in a row there were just too many question marks surrounding his fitness.
Bamford is one of Leeds’ top earners, yet once again was unavailable for the crunch period of the season, including all three play-off matches.
If Leeds can sell him for somewhere close to what they paid, promote Mateo Joseph into a more prominent role, and sign another striker it would be good business.
