Leeds United have picked up just won in four games, securing only five points from a possible 12 and it has left The Whites looking over their shoulder with Sheffield United level on points.
There was always going to be an inevitable slip up but Daniel Farke will be hoping that is done. Draws against QPR and West Brom were not the end of the world, but defeat at Portsmouth was concerning.
Farke’s Leeds squad have been left thin at Thorp Arch for the next week or so, with 16 players at Leeds currently on international duty. But The Whites have reason to be confident going into the last eight.
Swansea is next at Elland Road, a side struggling in the bottom region of the Championship followed by relegation-threatened Luton Town. Below, we predict Leeds’ next five games in the race for promotion.

Predicting Leeds United’s next five games starting with Swansea
Don Goodman thinks Sheffield United and Swansea won’t catch Leeds because of the quality of the opposition Leeds are yet to play. Indeed, only two of the eight sides Leeds will play are in the top half.
Swansea first, then Luton away from home before a tricky clash against Middlesbrough – one of the two sides Leeds still have to face in the top half. Daniel Farke thinks 96 points will be enough to be promoted.
Predicting Leeds’ next five games:
| Date | Opposition | Venue | Prediction |
| March 29 | Swansea | Elland Road | 3-0 Win |
| April 5 | Luton | Kenilworth Road | 2-0 Win |
| April 8 | Middlesbrough | Riverside | 2-2 Draw |
| April 12 | Preston | Elland Road | 2-1 Win |
| April 18 | Oxford | Kassam Stadium | 3-1 Win |
Predicting Sheffield United and Burnley’s next five matches
A total of 13 points from the next 15 will give Leeds a chance of maintaining first and taking Leeds closer to the Premier League. It will see Leeds go to 93, with three games still to play before the end of 2024-25.
Sheffield United and Burnley have to do battle in the third last game, and that will mean at least one of the two sides will drop points. But how will they get on before that, in the next five matches?
| Sheffield United’s next five | Predictions | Burnley’s next five | Predictions |
| Coventry (H) March 28 | 1-1 Draw | Bristol City (H) March 29 | 1-1 Draw |
| Oxford (A) April 5 | 2-1 Win | Coventry (A) April 5 | 2-1 Loss |
| Millwall (H) April 8 | 1-0 Win | Derby (A) April 8 | 1-0 Win |
| Plymouth (A) April 12 | 2-1 Win | Norwich (H) April 11 | 1-0 Win |
| Cardiff (H) April 18 | 2-0 Win | Watford (A) April 18 | 1-0 Win |
| Total: 13 | Total: 10 |
If as predicted, Leeds secure 13 points over the next five and Sheffield United do the same, then nothing will have changed ahead of the final three. But, Burnley have a tough old run over the next few weeks.
Burnley take on an in-form Coventry away from home, Bristol City at home, go to John Eustace’s Derby who are improving and then Norwich and Coventry. It would see Leeds solidify their place in the top two.
