Predicted Leeds United XI to face Coventry: Two changes as Daniel Farke shakes up midfield and attack

Daniel Farke could be tempted to make some changes to his Leeds United side to face Coventry City today.

Leeds produced a leggy performance in their Tuesday night defeat at Sunderland and so freshening it up ahead of a hectic Christmas schedule could make sense.

With Leicester City and Ipswich Town both victorious in midweek, Leeds will need to return to winning ways in order to keep in touch with the top two.

Farke has no new injury concerns to deal with from the trip to the Stadium of Light but is still unable to welcome back any of Sam Byram, Junior Firpo, Jamie Shackleton or Stuart Dallas.

So, with that in mind, here is our predicted Leeds XI for the game.

Goalkeeper

Illan Meslier produced a ‘world class’ save in midweek and so keeps up his record of starting in every Championship match this season.

Defence

With neither of Firpo or Byram back, Farke is unlikely to make too many changes to his back four, with options at full-back looking very scarce.

Luke Ayling has not played a single minute in any of the last six matches, and so is unlikely to be thrown back in from the start here, meaning Archie Gray continues at right-back.

Djed Spence will have to once again fill in on the other side, with Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon continuing their centre-back partnership.

Midfield

Midfield was arguably the area in which Leeds looked the most leggiest at Sunderland and that could be down to the fact Ethan Ampadu and Glen Kamara have started the last eight matches together.

With Ampadu seemingly undroppable in Farke’s head, Kamara should be the one to be handed a rest tomorrow, allowing Ilia Gruev to be handed just his second start for the club.

Attack

Leeds’ attack has been on fire over the last few months but Tuesday night was the first time in a while where they were unable to connect.

Willy Gnonto made a difference off the bench at the Stadium of Light and so should be rewarded with a start ahead of Dan James, with the rest of the front four staying the same.
