Aston Villa are yet to make any progress in their pursuit of Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.
That is according to MLS Transfers, who report Villa have not reached an agreement on a fee with Leeds or personal terms with Adams, though talks will remain ongoing.
Adams is attracting a plethora of interest from Premier League clubs following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship with Villa currently the side pushing hardest.
However, Adams is a player San Francisco 49ers Enterprises are keen to keep and build a team around this season, which at this stage is making it difficult for interested parties.
It is said that Adams will cost in excess of £25 million this summer with him still having four years left on his contract after only joining from RB Leipzig 12 months ago.
Villa yet to make progress in Adams pursuit
Villa will have to move fast if they are to win the race for Adams with Brighton, West Ham and Nottingham Forest reportedly among the other sides keen.
Brighton will soon be searching for a replacement for Moises Caicedo, who is likely to join Chelsea this summer for a fee of around £80 million, giving them money to spend.
West Ham, meanwhile, are in a similar boat with Declan Rice on the verge of joining Arsenal for £105 million, with David Moyes expected to target multiple replacements.
That said, it appears as though Leeds will refuse to let him go on the cheap with 49ers desperate for him to be someone they can build a team around.
If someone is willing to pay £25 million, though, it is a win-win for Leeds as that would be a huge amount of funds to bring in for his skillset that can be reinvested.
