The Athletic claim Leeds United have ‘planned discussions’ to tempt Tyler Adams to remain at Elland Road ahead of the 2023-24 season – with Aston Villa stepping up interest in the USA star, and other Premier League clubs keen.
Adams, 24, was one of a small handful of Leeds players to have come out of the 2022-23 season with pass marks. The USA skipper was excellent during the first two thirds of the season, before being forced to undergo surgery.
Because of that, and because of his impressive showing at the World Cup in Qatar with the United States, there is plenty of Premier League interest. The Mail say Brighton, Villa, Everton and Forest are all eyeing the £25m player.
Now, the report from The Athletic states that Villa are stepping up their interest in Adams. Unai Emery wants more depth in midfield – despite the signing of Youri Tielemans from Leicester. Adams is their next target this summer.
The report, written by Phil Hay and other Athletic journalists, states that Leeds have ‘planned discussions’ with Adams in an attempt to keep him. But, relegation is surely going to see Adams depart, and Leeds cash in on him.

He is one of a number of players linked with the exit door. The Mail say in the same aforementioned article that his ‘future’ is ‘unclear’, along with five others in Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo, Willy Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra and Illan Meslier.
Adams is far too good for the Championship. But, there might be a way of tempting Adams by suggesting one year in the second tier with a view to gaining an instant return. Ben Parker says vice captaincy is a worthy incentive.
